Ruth F. Bookstaver

Ruth F. Bookstaver, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:50 P.M., Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Ruth was a homemaker.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin, Friendly Bible Sunday School Class, UMW, and taught Kindergarten Sunday School Class for thirty-four years.  She was also a member of Marshall Browning Hospital Auxiliary and Du Quoin Senior Citizens.
She was born August 31, 1913 at Red Boiling Springs, TN, the daughter of James Clay and Carrie (Stockton) Reeves.
She married Harry Bookstaver on January 1, 1936 at Tamaroa, IL and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1972.
She is survived by one daughter - Judith Opp and husband Bob of Tamaroa, one son - Ron Bookstaver and wife Suzanne of Camarillo, California, three sisters - Esto Frederick, Edna Feller and Helen Rutherford, all of Du Quoin, four grandchildren - Gay Lynn Ashbrook of O'Fallon, Illinois, Jodi Morefield of Camarillo, California, Scott Opp of Tamaroa, and Steven Bookstaver of Du Quoin, two step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Debbie Lynn, one step daughter - Norma Jean Pope, two brothers - Paul and Henry, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti and Bro. Darrell McCombs officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 to 10 A.M., Thursday at the First United Methodist Church.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
